Open Question: Why do religion-based charities seem manipulative?

It seems like they help people below the guise of religion to show how nice they are, but their main goal is to increase the numbers of believers. Why not just help people just because you care about them, instead of trying to take advantage of their position to further your religious goals?

First of every, the prick didn't deserve it. 2nd of every this relatively "nobody" became the president and now he has some of the lowest ratings ever. But back to the question......Supposedly he was suppose to give the 1.4 million dollar prize to a charity. What charity you ask? I have no freaking idea. Open Question: NGOs and redundancy policy?

Someone I know works for a charity and has been made redundant, as the unit she worked in had to close down. She told me that instead of receiving a redundancy package, they have increased her annual salary from 27k to 30k. It's the first time I hear such a thing. I have always worked for the private sector and only know the common redundancy package you receive at the end of your contract. Paying redundacy off through an increase of annual income is totally new to me. Would this not imply rather that the permanent contract has been changed into a temporary contract with higher pay? Does anyone have experience with this. Or maybe this person was just making it up.... ;)

I am writing a class for my university course. I have to have a central idea which I have chosen as no one in the world having cancer then every of a sudden someone does. In my story I have seven people at least to name. Character One : a mom that ends up getting divorced to her husband. She is outgoing but she is also caring, loves life and donates to charity regularly. Character Two: a dad that divorces his wife when their daughter gets cancer. He is also outgoing but has an anger management issue and he is a drug addict. Character Three: the older brother of the young girl that gets cancer. He is sixteen and he sometimes feels left out and he is a rebellious teenager once his parents divorce. Character Four: the twin sister of the girl that has cancer. She is older by ten minutes. She is twelve. She is shy, caring and does not talk much. She enjoys being by herself in peace and silent. She is often put as the last concern of the family. Character Five: the girl that has cancer. She is also twelve and is very strong and brave but she can sob easily when she receive hurt. Her dream is to live a normal life. She dies in the hospital from her cancer. Character Six: The youngest sister of the kids. She is two years old and she can talk. She is a very smart girl and she can run very quick. She is often put second with the sick girl first. Character Seven: The doctor in the hospital. He is very nice but does not like to do extra work which is what he is doing to the girl. He can be very mean to the parents because he is telling them to move to different countries to receive a better outcome for her but really, he is the best doctor in the world. Open Question: Where to get rid of unwanted make-up?

I've had a clear out and got various lotions and potions, as well as make-up that I no longer use or need. Most items have just been tried a couple of times, but they're brand names - Benefit, Mac, Clinique etc. Stuff like lipsticks / gIosses, anti-ageing creams, eyeshadows, fake tan. I can't sell them on ebay (can I?!) , the charity store won't take them, so what do I do with it every? Don't want to just chuck it. Any ideas?

Open Question: Is running for charity an act of righteousness?

God has blessed me with great health and the ability to run, a wonderful gift from God that I like. I was thinking today that I want to use this gift to glorify God and run for charity and lift money for those in need - not for my possess glory, but to give glory to God and to inspire wish in those in need and show them God's adore through charity. But...there is a Bible verse (Matthew 6:1) that says "Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your dad in heaven." So my question is, if I let people know I am running to lift money for a certain charity and ask them to donate, is this still seen as a righteous act to God? It is not my intention or desire to seek recognition for what I am doing. I don't want any credit, I don't want people to applaud me and give me glory for what I am doing, because I am not doing this for myself at every. Just because I have good intentions does not mean it is good and pleasing to God.

Open Question: My mum is an obsessive compulsive hoarder, what can i do to help solve this problem?

I'm 18 and have lived with my mom's obsessive hoarding for my entire life, we have recently moved into another home which we are renting temporarily whilst we move every the boxes of junk into a storage space. Our home is not at every normal, there's boxes and junk of every sorts, just random crap my mum buys from charity shops piled high with pathways through to receive anywhere. She cannot toss things away (and i mean anything, she washes yoghurt pots etc and just stores them) and she gets depressed, she takes medication for her OCD and has had help from psychiatrists but none of this has worked. My relationship with my mom is pretty bad, she's an extremely difficult person to live with and my family are constantly arguing so I just don't really want to live with it any longer. And I'm concerned that moving every the junk into storage is not really much of a step forward and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what could be done to treat her condition? Thanks

I am looking to make a donation to a charitable organization, and my opinion is that one of the cheapest and fastest ways to help the most people is to send condoms to Africa, to battle both HIV/AIDS and overpopulation of desert land that cannot adequately support the current number of people. How should I phrase a charity wedding donation in honor of a person who is still alive? In memory seems like the person is dead. UPDATE: Not having a favor is not an option in my part of the country. So I would like to do something that is for the greater good instead of a plastic little thing no one will appreciate. This is an acceptable form of favor in my area. I would just like help with wording. Not opinions if I should or not.

Open Question: Brother 21,has no job,no car please help?

When he used to have a car he did not even bother to look for a J O B they towed his car now his carless and he lives at home w/mom.No one helps them only me.I have a baby due may 7th 2010 and my possess family to support so,Is not like is raining money.My mom told me about the issue but,he has not and I was going to buy him a car but,my other sibling talked me out of my stupid charity act.So,am I doing the right thing and hear to my other sister who is telling me he does not deserve it etc? My younger sis lives at home w/them she does not buy food/she has her job but does not even give them rides and I rarely talk to her and she NEVER calls me she is 23yrs old and living at home too.My mom pays every the bills and there being mooches living off her.Should I clip off my mom too bc this is pissing me off that she is letting them do whatever they want.When I was 15yrs old and working/going to school I paid my half of RENT I don't think is fair there not and is BS. what should I do? and I have not spoken to my mom ever sense she told me about the CAR issue being towed(they did not make payments for 8mths) the agent found them and towed there car(moms) I told her and she said she feels sorry for them..so I guess she choice them over me.I have my pride.I can go years without talking to someone who does not think clearly.

Open Question: Is it better to donate items or sell them for low prices.?

My wife and I have a combined income of about $75,000. I've been selling personal items like CD's, DVD's & sports cards on Ebay but have only been getting about $1 each CD & DVD and about $1.00 per $15 worth of value on sports cards. Would it be more beneficial to donate these items to a charity and itemize them on my tax return. It just feels like I'm throwing them away at these prices but on the other hand they just sit on a shelf and collect dust. What would be my best option?

Open Question: How would you, as private individuals, receive anonymous donations online?

Would like to receive anonymous donations online strictly as a private individual (registration as non-profit organization or charity is not an option). Is there a widely known and well reputed company which does that for such clients? Or can I implement it by myself in co-operation with a reliable and known company doing that nice of business? Basically, my school is having a dressing up day for a charity (Help the Heroes) And our theme is, well Heroes ;D We either have to dress up as a super Hero or our Hero, But I don't have a hero :S I can't buy a costume as I haven't go that much money :/ I could make one, but I would still need to buy stuff? Open Question: Setting up a tournament for my girl scout gold award?

Im thinking of ideas on how to receive my gold award for girlscouts and because I'm really into fencing, I was wondering if I set up a tournament in honor of a charity and every the money raised will go to that charity, would that be good for my gold award? alright every you christians. i'm sure you hear these qestions alot of the time, but as a former christian, i've really arrive to find logic in my reasoning behind disbelieving in his existnce. for a god who is every loving, understanding, nice, merciphal, generous - AND he created us out of his image, and he loves everyone of us so much, it seems extremely unlogical to send someone you adore and care about to BURN, and FRY, and SIZZLE in EXCRUCIATING pain for every eternity. - Simple question: Do you find it unlogical that God casts anyone who never heard the word of christ, or DOUBTED him based on a bizarre lack of presense. - If the fate of your soul is either peace and calmness or suffering in unnimginable pain for ever based on if you believe in him or not, why won't he just show us himself, or at least say something, or make his voice known to us.?? oh wait.. that would be too easy. - what is the purpose of hell? Hell is like prison. except in prison you're there to learn a lesson and receive out. what is the purpose of being there forever? - immagine your on trial for being bad. The worst thing bob ever did was steal bubble gum out of grocery store, however bob spent his entire life volunteering at a homeless shelter, donated a good percentage of his paycheck to charity, and was a fun loving peaceful person who made ONE little mistake throughout his life. As where john was a serial murder. he had no friends, know one really knew this person that well. They both await trial for there sins Bob - Guilty of failing to accept my existence guilty of theft, On the other hand it wouldn't be unreasonable to say that you've made up for it through your years of charitable work, kindness and consideration of others. You had many friends, and everyone you came in contact with respected you because you treated them with propper respect. John, You killed countless people. You even strangled to death a pregnant mom, a 12 year old girl, raped, violated and defiled many lady, you would END THE LIFE of any female who in your mind believed wasn't good enough to be on this world because she wasn't beautiful enough for you? you had an empty heart in your life, in your last murder in an attempt to receive away, you sped down a highway, landed into the water and drowned to death. HOWEVER, ten minutes before this HOWEVER, during the last 5 minutes in your plain of existence on EARTH, you praid and begged for forgiveness and that you accepted my son into your heart, and for that, you may enter the kingdom of heaven. however bob, you were a nice person, you had a nice heart, i created you in my image, I adore and care about you SO much. BEGONE FROM ME, FOR I NEVER KNEW YOU!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK HEVEN WOULD BE LIKE IF I ONLY LET GOOD PEOPLE IN. NO GO ROT AND FRY IN A flame YOU FLILTHY SINNER, AND DO SO FOR every ETERNITY WHERE YOU CAN NEVER FIND FORGIVENESS, YOUR FATE IS PERMENTLY DOOMED TO BURN IN A LAKE OF flame. LOGICAL people would say that there is a SERIOUS difference between stealing bubble gum, and not that these two scenerious will ALWAYS be this simple, the fact is they CAN be, and they have in the past, so ... where is the logic in this? ok so can somebody please actually answer me and NO IM NOT HIGH OR DRUNK right now my god. just answer me yeah can i receive some answers that don't ask if i'm high? because i'm not. but yeah. also if god knows every, and works in mysterious ways, why do people continue to pray? also, if god knows that you will fail to pass his test, why can he spare you the pain of burning in hell by not having created you, or maybe he could just already send you to hell for a test he KNEW you'd fail. or on the other side of things why couldn't he just idk. show himself?? make himself known to everyone, since only a REAL fool would not believe in god if they had EVER SEEN HIS FACE. or again, would that just be too easy? also, if god is perfect, how arrive someone who was created in his image was free of impuritys. a designer usually designs things that works. well it's weird to believe he's our creator when he practically created hell to fix a problem he created. yeah and don't say free will. your choices are your choice. god will be virtually (and almost entirely) nonexistant throughout your life (well actually he won't, but that's different for christians i guess) wouldn't someone who loves you at least try to talk you out of doing something rediculous? instead, he leaves it up to you. and don't leave it up to your parents or someone to help you. well, there are enough people in this world who were born, stranded and left to fend forthemselves. - also don't use the 'to he who hasn't much, little will be expected of him' verse... that's annoying. and that makes the bible sound like a special ed yeah. why did god create us out of his image with flaws such as ... disabilities.. As a Christian i should help you and answer that but thats a heck of alot of writing! i read most of it, and i can tell you that theres a way around every your questions. have u read the bible? if not read it, then arrive back and try and answer those questions urself. its unhappy when people become "former christian" try again. i think u should pray :S so basically being a christian is like being a lawer. there's a loop hole and a way to back up any argument that the bible raises... well if there's loopholes, and ways around it, then how do you know what any of it means when anything and everything could litterally be taken any and every way!
